Whole Body Self Care: A New Era of Self Care

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) self care means taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve both your physical and mental health. This includes practices like staying hydrated, having a consistent sleep schedule, and connecting with friends and family. Practicing self care helps us stay grounded in a world that's often busy and fast paced.

Unfortunately, over time the term has become representative of something much different. “The term ‘self-care’ has been misused in our world,” said Dr. Caroline Perjessy, president of the Association for Humanistic Counseling and a faculty member at SNHU who has been practicing as a counselor for more than 20 years. “When people hear that word, they think of spa days — and an extensive amount of time to implement.” This has caused self care to become a way to indulge in retail therapy and costly beauty rituals hoping we get a peace of mind. Those who are not able to due to lack of time or funds are then left feeling alienated and inadequate.

Our goal is to bring self care back to it's roots with Whole Body Self Care. We believe self-care should touch every part of your life, not just your skin. It's a full body experience that requires different aspects of your life aligning together. Our digital planners and journals help you reflect and meet your goals while our skincare products provide simple and easy ways to feel physically cared for while doing your daily routine. Follow us on this journey because taking care of you shouldn't feel like another task, it should feel like home.
